Can a handbag alter the look of your overall ensemble? Designers concur. They are aware that the bag you carry has a subtle power. Because of this, the top designers from the four main fashion weeks compete to introduce the newest It-bag each season. Straight jeans and a baby t-shirt, or even sweatpants and a hoodie after yoga, may be transformed from casual to easy with the appropriate purse perched on your arm. This year, the handbag trends for spring 2023 that appeared on the catwalks in New York, London, and other cities accurately represented the kind of woman that everyone wants to be right now: one with a great bag.

Many of the trends mirrored larger themes from the runways, including put-together power pieces and red dominating as the colour of the season. Other bag trends stood on their own, such as the XXL totes that are continuing strong into fall.

The spring/summer 2023 Fashion Week runways offered several ideas for this season’s must-have accessories, from enormous clutches shown on the runways of Khaite to tie-dye bags displayed by Altuzarra. Some firms preferred to stick with classic themes and hues, while others took a more rebellious stance and experimented with unorthodox colour schemes, textures, and materials.

Discover the seven handbag trends for summer 2023 that you need to be aware of now by continuing to read.

CLUTCH BAGS

Although traditionally small, clutches have received a refreshing makeover this season. From oversized, unstructured silhouettes to more compact boxy designs, spring is embracing clutches that combine both fashion and function.

While they maintain a more rigid shape, many of them incorporate playful elements such as appliqués and soft, colourful quilting. These chic spring bags are perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any ensemble.
