Resort season has evolved far beyond traditional runway presentations. Today, these destination shows are immersive fashion experiences that combine travel, celebrity, art, and craftsmanship, transforming iconic locations into spectacular stages for luxury houses to unveil their latest visions. This year, designers embraced that concept more than ever, presenting collections that captured the spirit of their surroundings while offering audiences a sense of escapism and fantasy. From Louis Vuitton’s urban-inspired elegance to Chanel’s coastal ease, Resort 2026 delivered some of the most memorable runway moments of the year.

For Cruise 2027, Louis Vuitton brought its latest showcase to Manhattan’s Upper East Side, presenting the collection inside The Frick Collection. The museum’s timeless interiors created a striking contrast against the modern energy of the runway, while the front row featured stars such as Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett and Chloë Sevigny.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière explored the contrast between uptown sophistication and downtown cool, using New York’s dual personality as the foundation for the collection. Denim emerged as a key element throughout the show, elevated through structured tailoring and polished silhouettes that reflected an effortless American attitude.

Leather biker jackets, sporty references, and boxing-inspired details were paired with sharp tailoring and dramatic eveningwear inspired by the glamour of the Gilded Age. The result was a collection that balanced refinement with rebellion, blending vintage influences with a futuristic edge.

The collection also paid tribute to legendary artist Keith Haring. After discovering that Haring had once customized a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk, Ghesquière incorporated the artist’s iconic graphics into the runway. The collaboration celebrated creativity, freedom, and individuality, adding another layer of meaning to the show’s narrative.

Meanwhile, Dior headed to Los Angeles for its Cruise 2026/2027 presentation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson, the house continued embracing a more daring and experimental aesthetic.

The glamorous setting attracted a celebrity-packed audience including Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sabrina Carpenter and Jisoo.

Anderson leaned fully into maximalism, reinventing Dior’s signature pieces through distressed textures, oversized proportions, and dramatic embellishments. Bouclé jackets appeared intentionally deconstructed, denim featured chain-linked detailing, and glittering accessories added a theatrical touch to nearly every look. Whimsical handbags and sparkling eyewear reinforced the collection’s dreamlike atmosphere.

Hollywood’s golden age also served as a major inspiration. Christian Dior famously dressed icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, and Anderson built on that legacy by exploring fashion as fantasy and escapism. Artwork by Ed Ruscha added another artistic dimension to the collection.

Chanel’s Coastal Escape

At Chanel, the atmosphere shifted toward relaxed glamour and seaside elegance. Creative director Matthieu Blazy unveiled his first cruise collection for the house in Biarritz, the same coastal town where Gabrielle Chanel opened a couture house in 1915.

Inspired by childhood memories of the Basque coast, Blazy created a collection filled with movement and ease. Shimmering fish-scale dresses, oversized raffia skirts, striped swimwear-inspired pieces, and relaxed silhouettes captured the carefree spirit of seaside dressing.

Accessories played a major role throughout the runway, with oversized tote bags and sparkling footwear bringing a playful energy to the collection. Blazy successfully balanced Chanel’s heritage craftsmanship with a youthful freshness that continues to generate excitement around the maison.
