Much like fish and chips, scones and Queen Elizabeth, Kate Moss is an absolute British icon. Famed for her killer cheekbones, she’s dominated the fashion scene ever since she was discovered by Sarah Doukas of Storm Models at age 14 in 1988.

The Croydon-born model quickly rose to become one of the most recognisable faces in magazines, scoring contracts with the Calvin Klein, Burberry, Longchamp and YSL. In 1990 Moss caught the attention of the fashion industry when a series of stark unstylized photographs of her—taken by the British photographer Corinne Day—were published in a youth style magazine. At that time the fashion industry was populated by supermodels who were famous for their statuesque and curvaceous frames and traditionally glamorous images.

In 1994, John Galliano presented his SS94 show “Princess Lucretia” – his last chance to impress the fashion elite. For the season, he created an artistic masterpiece based around a princess that escaped from Russia in 1860. And Kate Moss walked on the runway, showing off his incredible acting skills and sporting a Union Jack coat and bleached hair, whoops with delight.
