Marc Jacobs Is Back With Its Spring 2023 Collection
For the Spring 2023 Ready To Wear collection, Marc Jacobs honours the godmother of punk, the late designer Vivienne Westwood
A week ahead of the official New York Fashion Week schedule, luxury fashion brand MARC JACOBS presented its latest Spring 2023 Ready-To-Wear collection at the 643 Park Avenue Armony in New York’s Upper East Side district.
This marked Maison’s return to physical shows for the first time since its announcement of digital-only shows in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Marc Jacobs’ “Heroes,” collection paid tribute to the late British designer and punk godmother Vivienne Westwood. She passed away in December 2022 at the age of 81. When she died, Jacobs posted a black-and-white photo of the legendary designer as a young woman. “I continue to learn from her words and all of her extraordinary creations. ” Marc Jacobs said. At the end of the runway show, he quoted Westwood: “Fashion makes life better, and I believe it does.”
A week before the official start of New York Fashion Week, luxury brand MARC JACOBS showed its latest Spring 2023 collection at the 643 Park Avenue Armony in New York’s Upper East Side neighbourhood. This was Maison’s first return to in-person runway shows after the announcement of releasing only digital runway shows due to COVID-19.
For Spring 2023, Jacobs created edgy, creative, dramatic, punk-inspired silhouettes with volume and structure. He also drew inspiration from his previous work by incorporating dyed and spiked hair into his designs. The style incorporated shredded velvet, textured patchwork and oversized outerwear. The punk fashion was accented with draped dresses that suggested oversized outerwear. This look was styled after the fashion lines of Jacobs and Westwood. In addition to this, long quilted coats, quilted jackets paired with skirts and ruffled evening dresses were popular.
“With the turn of another season in our endless search for value, importance, and possibilities, it is through these collections that we continue our ever-expanding notions of beauty and craft,” Jacobs said. “With a controlled abandon and driving frenetic energy, we reflect on life beyond the studio.”
Celebrities Emily Ratajkowski, Anna Sui, Nicky Hilton, Ashley Graham and Sofia Coppola attended the Marc Jacobs Spring 2023 RTW front row. Other stars like Debi Mazar, Debbie Harry and SiriusXM were also in attendance.
Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2023 collection showcased the timeless style and elegance of the designer, who passed away in Britain.
The collection perfectly reflected her style. Ms Westwood will always be remembered for her deep influence on fashion, as well as the many contributions she made to the industry. In addition to this tribute Marc Jacobs provided, there will be no shortage of British designers recognizing Vivienne’s important role in fashion.
