Carolina Herrera RTW A/W 2022-2023

Carolina Herrera Fall 2022-2023 was an ode to the Herrera woman.

Wes Gordon, Creative Director of the brand, played homage to the Herrera woman. A nod to loyalists and newcomers, Fall/Winter 2022 was all about love and fashion.

Since 2018, the founder of Carolina Herrera handed over the creative baton to designer Wes Gordon, who has continued with the traditions of the house. Although, he has also bet on new trends to appeal to younger audiences, such as the viral square neckline, the favourite of generation Z.

For this season, Gordon mixed and matched during the runway show: a white shirt paired with a fuchsia skirt, joined by a wide belt to highlight the waist, saturated chromaticisms of crushed berries, anemone blue, fire opal, deep peony, Yellow primrose and Dahlia burst onto the runway in blinding white.

“This season’s silhouettes are distinctly linear and fitted, but feature moments of exuberance such as a billowing waterfall, an oversized sleeve or a colour-revealing hemline,” the brand explained on its Instagram page.

Gordon said there was a reason why he opted for the dramatic. “It’s our most fabulous and dramatic pieces that sell the fastest,” he said. “There’s, I think, a desire to celebrate, to dress up. The moment is right now.”

Debuting the show in an in-face event this year was important to Gordon because, he said, “We are a very proud part of New York Fashion Week. I’m proud to be a designer in New York. This was an opportunity where we were going to say, ‘We’re here, we continue to make the most beautiful things, the world continues to turn and, we’re very proud to be part of that conversation.'”

In short, this new Carolina Herrera collection was a combination of everyday designs with big and iconic dresses that we will see on the upcoming red carpets. A palette of whites, blacks and greys combined with the most striking and vivid colours.
